Young Adult Life Coaching in Pewaukee, WI

Everyone keeps asking what your plan is, and you are tired of having no good answer. I am Ryan Roberts, and I work with people between about 18 and 25 on direction, independence and getting moving again.

You arrange this yourself and the sessions are yours. What you say to me does not go home to anyone.

What Is Young Adult Life Coaching, and Who Is It For?

Young adult life coaching is practical, one-to-one support for the transition from school to a life that feels like your own. We work on choosing a direction, taking action, managing money and daily responsibilities, handling a first serious job, and navigating life with parents while living at home. Living with parents is common, but feeling stuck can make the arrangement difficult.

At Fresh Streams, this coaching is separate from family work. You choose the goals, and sessions focus on your needs. We skip personality tests and vague advice about finding your passion. Instead, we identify what is getting in the way and agree on practical steps before the next session. I coach skills and decisions, not mental health conditions, and will recommend licensed support when needed. When living at home creates ongoing challenges between parents and young adults, family support coaching can provide a separate space to work on household communication and expectations.

My Services

Coaching for young adults sits within a wider practice. Here is the whole of it, in case something else fits better.

Benefits of Young Adult Coaching

Nobody is grading you
There is no assessment, no report and no comparison to where you were supposed to be by now, which for most people is the first thing that makes the conversation possible.

A useful adult who is not your parent
The same advice lands completely differently from someone with no stake in whether you move out, and that alone changes what you can think about clearly.

Specific next steps instead of big questions
Sessions end with something small and concrete to do this week, because working out what you want tends to come from moving rather than from more thinking.

It fits around real life
Evening and weekend slots, online or in person, so shifts, classes and an unpredictable schedule do not rule it out.

You can stop whenever you like
Sessions are booked one at a time with no package and no minimum, so staying is a choice you make each time rather than a commitment you regret.

My Work Process

Get in touch yourself

Call or text (262) 737-8827, or use the contact form. One line is enough, and you do not need to explain your situation properly yet.

A free conversation with no pitch

About thirty minutes. You say what is going on, I ask questions, and at the end I tell you honestly whether I think I can help. Nothing is charged.

Work on one thing at a time

You and I pick something small enough to actually happen before the next session. It builds from there, and the pace is set by you.

Future Planning Coaching for Young Adults in Pewaukee

Most people arriving here do not have a plan they are struggling to execute. They have several half-options and no way to choose between them, which produces the particular kind of stuckness where nothing gets ruled out and nothing gets started. Waiting for clarity to arrive first rarely works, because clarity is usually a result of doing things rather than a prerequisite. So this work goes at it from the other direction.

That means separating what you actually want from what you have absorbed from other people, testing an option cheaply instead of committing to it, working out what a course or a job genuinely involves day to day rather than in theory, and getting comfortable ruling things out, which is the part most people skip. Deciding what you are not going to do frees up more energy than almost anything else available to you.

Decision Making Coaching for Young Adults in Pewaukee

Nobody teaches this and everybody assumes you picked it up somewhere. Booking your own appointments, understanding what comes out of a paycheque, keeping a car on the road, dealing with a landlord, cooking on a schedule that survives a full week, and handling the specific dread of a phone call to an official organisation.

These skills are individually small and collectively decide whether living independently feels manageable or constantly slightly out of control. I work with you on the ones that are actually in your way rather than a generic checklist, and you and I build them in an order that makes sense for what you are trying to do next. If you are still at home, this is often where to start, because becoming the person who handles their own admin changes how you are treated in the house long before you move out of it.

Job Search Coaching for Young Adults in Pewaukee

The first serious job is a strange transition, and most of what makes it hard has nothing to do with the work itself. Applying for things you will not get, and doing it again the following week, requires a tolerance for rejection nobody arrives with. Then once you are in, there is the parallel job of working out how an actual workplace runs: how to ask for something, what to do when you have made a mistake, how to speak to a manager you find difficult, and how to tell whether the role is genuinely wrong or just uncomfortable because it is new.

I work on all of it with you, including the applications themselves and the parts that come after. Around Waukesha County that also means being practical about what is actually here, from the employers along Bluemound Road to what a commute into Milwaukee costs you in reality. As you become more comfortable handling workplace responsibilities and communicating with managers, leadership coaching can help develop the skills needed to take on greater responsibility.

Life Skills Coaching for Young Adults in Pewaukee

Living at home as an adult puts everyone in an awkward position. Your parents are running a household with rules that made sense when you were sixteen, you are trying to be an adult inside a setup that keeps signalling otherwise, and both sides are quietly frustrated without saying so directly. Conversations about it tend to happen at the worst moment, usually in the middle of an argument about something else entirely.

This work is about handling that deliberately. Together, you and I look at what you actually want changed and what you are willing to take on in exchange, how to raise it in a calm moment rather than a heated one, what a reasonable contribution looks like so the conversation is not one sided, and how to hold a boundary with a parent without it becoming a fight. None of this requires your parents to be in the room, and I do not speak to them about it.

Frequently Asked Questions

My parents are paying. Will you tell them what I say?

No. Paying for a session does not entitle anyone to hear what happened in it, and I do not give parents summaries or progress updates. If a parent is funding the work I will confirm that you attended, since they are entitled to know the money was used, and that is where it ends. If even that feels like too much, paying for it yourself removes the issue entirely.

Yes, and that is the most common starting point rather than a problem with it. Arriving with a clear goal usually means you need a plan instead of a coach. Not knowing is workable material: what you have been avoiding, what you have already ruled out without admitting it, and what you would try if nobody had an opinion about it. Direction generally shows up a few steps in rather than at the beginning.

No, though work comes up in most engagements. A careers adviser knows about specific industries and qualifications and can tell you what a path requires. My work is about how you make decisions, follow through on them, and handle the parts of adult life that surround a job. Plenty of people benefit from both, and if what you actually need is sector specific information, I will tell you that rather than talk around it.

It happens fairly often and it is not something you get in trouble for. Missing a session usually means something specific is going on, and that is worth understanding rather than pushing past. I will follow up once and then leave it with you, because chasing an adult who has stopped replying is not coaching. You can pick it back up later without any awkwardness about the gap.

Mostly in that I have no stake in the outcome. A parent needs you to be alright, which makes every conversation carry more weight than it should and turns advice into pressure without anyone intending it. I can ask an uncomfortable question and let you sit with it, disagree with you without it becoming a family issue, and be entirely neutral about whether you move out this year. That neutrality is most of the value.

You do not need a plan before you get in touch. Having no answer is the normal starting point and it is a perfectly good reason to book a conversation.

The first one is free, takes about thirty minutes, and nobody else hears about it.
